Bedding and Bernice

Today I have been working on picking out new bedding for the display bed.  There are so many options and I get a little indecisive, but fortunately I had a my helper bear today!
Yes, Bernice is in his pajamas and they are also available in blue:

A few things...

Every summer my family goes to High Hampton in Cashiers, North Carolina.  The Inn has a dahlia garden on the property and they provide you with scissors and mason jars so you can pick and take flowers back to your room.  This year, the Easter Bunny put dahlia bulbs in my Easter Basket and my mom and I experimented with growing dahlia's.  To my surprise, they are blooming, blooming, blooming!

Since we've already taken our "big" trip of the summer, we are filling the weekends with day or overnight trips here and there.  I hadn't been to Wacissa in ages, but we went a few weekends ago and had a blast.  The rope swings and air boats brings out your inner hillbilly.  Just ask Brent!
Speaking of, did you know that my extended family goes on an overnight canoe trip down the Chipola River every summer?  It is has been going on for over forty years and now my parents are in charge.  It is this weekend!
Have you tried coconut Greek yogurt?  It is the only healthy thing that I would say could substitute a dessert. I suggest you give it a try!
Oh, and the construction.  Just when I think it couldn't get any worse,  it does!  It is tempting to call it a beach day and I think that when the cement is poured directly in front of the store, I will!
We have gotten in some great summer jewelry at really good prices. I have added this wrap bracelet ($28) to my daily attire to help jazz things up.  We also have an assortment of studs and stack able bracelets starting at only $12.  It is all part of the Caroline Hill collection, a mother-daughter jewelry line based out of Thomasville.
Brent probably doesn't think it is possible, but I am adding another robe to my collection.  My current terry robe is a bit heavy and large so I have passed it on to Brent and I am trading it for Matouk's Cairo robe.  I think I am going to go with Watermelon tape and monogram (it isn't as orange as the image appears).
When it comes in I just might share my full collection!
Hope summer is treating you well!

Designer Spotlight: Lulu de Kwiatkowski

You may not recognizer her name, but Lulu de Kwiatkowski, more widely known as Lulu DK, is the designer behind Matouk's Lulu DK line of bedding. She studied textiles at Parson's School of Design, then moved to Paris to study art.  She has become well-known in the textile world for her fine fabrics with bright and bold designs.
Here is some of her bedding for Matouk used on a daybed in her son's nursery:
She has recently come out with a line of fabrics for Schumacher:
Edie Ross recently decorated a FUN table working around her fabric:
I guess designing her own line of fine fabrics, bedding and table linens for Matouk, and fabric for Schumacher wasn't enough to keep her busy so she has been doing some painting on the side which she will be selling on One King's Lane. I love her choice of colors in these:
Here is a link to her blog,  Trail of Inspiration.

Madly in love with Mirasol!

I've been working on bedding for a twin bed that we have and I keep running into images of Matouk's

Mirasol bedding.  It is one of their finer lines and isn't even available in Twin bedding, but it

certainly grabs my attention.  With 600 thread count, I'm sure it feels heavenly!

Happy Mother's Day

There have been lots and lots of little girls shopping for their Mommy (and little brothers tagging along too!).  One little girl had an entire "Spa" basket she was putting together with magazines, nail polish, lemons (she said she was using these for a pedicure), and lotion.
Wishing you a wonderful day with your Mother, remembering your Mother, or being a Mother!

Easy Shopping!

We did some rearranging this week to make it easy to shop for all of the little holidays and gift giving events coming up.  Front and center is our Mother's Day table...

Then, we have our graduation table.  You know that one of my favorites are the Talleyho cosmetic bags and jewelry rounds for special gifts.  The friendship bracelets are only $6 and are good friend-to -friend gifts.  They are cute stacked with other bracelets for the summer!
Soon after Mother's Day is Father's Day...
Then, we have the crib which is full of baby gifts right now...
The silver-plated turtle is still my favorite!  I'm tempted to get one to put on my stack of books on my bedside table.
And the best news of all is this...
Once all of this construction is over Lavish is finally going to have a little parking spot of it's own!  Say you are coming down the hill from Broad and you pass Lavish on the right, as soon as you turn right onto Madison, this spot will be on the right.  If you pass it or it is full, there will be three more ahead on the right.  Hot Diggity Dog!

Packing for France!

We leave for France next weekend and I am just now getting on the ball with packing and booking.  Brent and I are traveling light so that we won't waste any time on lost luggage and to make it easier to hop around France.  I am using the same backpack that I used six years ago when I went to Europe with friends.  I pulled out the bag last night and it looked tiny!  I'm afraid that I am no longer the light, efficient packer that I used to be!  Here are a few items that are coming with me...
Kai Roller Perfume, yuummmm
My tinted moisturizer with sunscreen
A Rikshaw Tunic

My new Sheridan French dress!!  It actually hasn't come in yet and I got it for another event, but think it will be perfect for France!  I've been wanting one forever!  Now please don't tell me that everyone in Paris dresses in all black like New York City.  If it is chilly, I might have to save it for the French Riviera.
Worishofers orthopedic shoes!  I read about these on the Rikshaw blog (she took them with her on her trip to India) and she swears that they are the most comfortable traveling shoes.  They are inexpensive and I think they will go with most of my outfits, so I hope they work out for me!

Turkish towel to use as a travel blanket and towel along the Mediterranean.
This next image is the hotel/bed and breakfast that we are staying at in Aix-en-Provence.  The hotel is on a bustling little street in the historic part of downtown with a restaurant downstairs.  All twelve bedrooms are unique and the decorating is just so French!  Can't wait!
And finally, here is a picture of the renovations outside today.  I Came to open and the street was closed and covered with tractors.  The bricks are slowly being uncovered and by Friday the street should be back open.
Ciao!

Add color to your home!

"Once upon a time,
long before modernism was invented,
gentle people embellished their homes with
fanciful objects of art.."

I always think that my life would be so much more simple if I could just use paper napkins and dishes that didn't have to be hand washed.  But that simply isn't me!
Dana Gibson has reinvented this tradition of embellishing homes with art with her painted wastebaskets, tissue box covers, and pillows.  They are here just in time to add a punch of color to your home for Spring.  I absolutely love the hot pink cheetah pillow for the middle of a couch or bed!

First day of Spring!

This little girl celebrated the first day of Spring with a new dress, new sandals, and a new blabla doll!
And she didn't bother waiting until she got home to put them on!

I'm still here!

My No.1 blog reader (my mother!) just reminded me that I haven't written a blog post lately.  It's been almost a month!  Just so you know, that doesn't mean that we haven't had much going on!  Here are a few of my favorites right now...
Starfish studs in gold or silver, $18.  Pop these in your easter basket!
More Turkish hand towels for Spring
We are now carrying Salt Water Sea Wee Sandals in Gold, White, Pink, Navy, and Brown. A staple to your Little's summer wardrobe!
These are my favorite bloomers by Rikshaw yet!

Plus, we just got in the cutest little Rikshaw dresses in sizes 2T and 4T.
